Epson Stylus Photo R280 – Photo Quality Inkjet With Cd Printing
Not only does the Epson Stylus Photo R280 offer incredibly high print resolution aimed at making photo album quality digital images, but it also functions quite well as a standard document printer as well thanks to fast print speeds and decent toner yields. Along with super high print quality and rapid speed, the R280 offers a range of unique gadgets and features for interesting output options, such as CD and DVD printing via an included disc tray that allows color printing directly onto the media itself.
With a maximum print resolution of 5760 x 1440 optimized dots per inch, photographs will not only come out looking perfect, but, via a 200 year album storage time, they will also last for generations. A minimum ink droplet size of 1.5 picoliters also insures that, even on a microscopic level, the Epson Stylus Photo R280’s accuracy will never waiver. Designed specifically with color photos in mind, the unit also includes auto photo correction and automatic face detection to help not only reproduce your images perfectly, but improve them as well.
With a 4 x 6 inch photo print speed of a very fast 11 seconds for high quality, the Epson Stylus Photo R280 can potentially print entire albums of pictures in short time. When quality is reduced for standard text, print speeds get a major boost up to an outstanding 37 pages per minute for black text, and a slightly faster 38 pages per minute for color text printing.
While most color printing devices utilize the standard four pigment colors of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow, the Epson Stylus Photo R280 adds two additional colors, Light Cyan and light magenta, for optimal image accuracy and a total of six congruent cartridges. While black Ink Cartridges are lacking in overall Page Yield, with only 300 pages per unit, Color Ink cartridges do fairly well at an advertised 515 pages each. Considering there are six total cartridges, these numbers are more than acceptable, yet when full color photos are the primary output, page yields will suffer severely as these specifications are exclusively for documents.
The Epson Stylus Photo R280 uses Claria high definition ink, meaning that photographs will not only last for centuries, they are also smudge and scratch resistant, as well as water and sunlight resistant. To preserve ink when an undesired print occurs, an exit print button allows a photograph or document to be halted mid project and discarded without the full extraction of valuable ink.
A constant feed feature lets users define paper lengths from any standard size, including photograph, letter, legal, and half letter, but also unique print lengths up to a ridiculously long 44 inches. The Epson Stylus Photo R280’s weight of only 12.5 pounds makes it easily mobile, and the unit itself even folds into a storage mode for movement and space conservation that brings its footprint down from 17.7″ x 22.5″ x 11.3″ (W x D x H) to only 17.7″ x 11.1″ x 7.4″.
